Fort Steilacoom in Lakewood, WA, is one of the largest urban parks in the South Sound area, and was originally the site of the Washington Territory Insane Asylum. In recent years the park has been converted into a memorial and also features an off-leash dog park and a great playground for the little ones.
There are two course options for this event:
The variety of terrain is what makes this course a memorable one. The course is primarily on flat or gently rolling trails through meadows, with two steep but short uphill climbs and a segment through the woods. The amphitheatre-like start and finish area provides views of Waughop Lake. Be prepared to jump over a few downed logs and contend with classic Pacific Northwest twisty-turny fun in the wooded section of the course!
