interlaken park

Named for a summer resort in Switzerland, Interlaken Park is a dense evergreen oasis. Catch a glimpse of the Cascades from this hillside park and run up this refreshing green ravine.

The Summer Evening Trail Series takes place on 6 Tuesday evenings in some of the most verdant running destinations that are conveniently located within the Seattle and Eastside areas. Distances are short, ranging from 4k to 10 miles.

This trail run is the final of six events in the Summer Trail Series.

COURSE
The course starts with an out-and-back tour of the fairly flat, paved Interlaken Boulevard, where it is closed to car traffic through this forest park. The course then turns up a short staircase and onto dirt trails, including a climb to the top of the park and back down to Interlaken Boulevard for the short return to the start/finish. Each loop is 2.5 km. The 5k is two loops, and the 10k is four loops.

Aid/Refreshments
The aid station will be located at the start/finish area.

The aid station will have at least water and some sort of carbohydrate-rich food, such as pieces of bagel, fruity candy, fig bars, cookies, and/or bananas. There will likely be a few choices of these foods, along with electrolyte-replacement drink.

DIRECTIONS
Interlaken Park divides the Montlake and Capitol Hill neighborhoods of Seattle. The event will begin near the intersection of 21st Ave E and E Interlaken Blvd.

Here is a Google Map showing where check-in and the start/finish will be located.

Parking
Street parking is available adjacent to check-in and the start/finish point.

Safety and Trail Etiquette

The trails will be open to other users during the event, including cyclists and pedestrians with pets.

Participants are responsible for their own safety while participating, and the organizers are neither qualified nor equipped to render medical care in the event of a serious injury. In case of an emergency, call 9-1-1. You are encouraged to bring a cell phone with you as a safety precaution, if you wish.

Where the trails are narrow, please let other participants pass you if they want to get by. It is a passing runner's job to tell the person in front that they wish to pass.
