Ravenna Weeknight Run #2 - May 2012 Results

Thursday, May 24, Ravenna Park

The second run in the three-run Ravenna Weeknight Series took place on a mostly sunny and mild evening, with the trails lined with lush spring growth. The next run in the series takes place on June 28.

Thanks to the volunteers and staff for their fine work. Special thanks to the friendly staff at the UW Medicine Ravenna Clinic for joining us for the run and providing water bottles for the runners, and to Bronsa Swint from On The Ball Fitness for leading the dynamic pre-run warm-up. Thanks also to The Balanced Athlete and PowerBar for providing PowerBar energy foods to fuel and refuel the runners and to our neighbors Garlic Jim's in Ravenna for the tasty post-run pizza!

The next Northwest Trail Runs event will be the XTERRA Lord Hill Trail Run on June 2, with 10k and Half Marathon distances. This is the second race in the three-race XTERRA Trail Run Pacific Northwest Series. You can register or see who else is running.

Dave Miller flew to new course record times in the 8k by 29 seconds and in the 12k by 1:05. Our youngest finisher was eight-year-old Emmett Barnes, who finished the 4k in fine form, as did his father, mother, and brother Omar. Omar not only ran, but also volunteered to help set up and staff the finish line before and after the race!

Thanks to Louise Lakier Photography for taking photos.
